Ice cream is in meltdown
ICE cream parlours and vans lost £289million last year, a report claims.
Some 800 vans have gone out of business and 90 parlours have shut, according to a survey by the Ice Cream Alliance.
ICA chief Zelica Carr said Covid was the biggest threat to the industry since the Second World War.
She added: “The £289million lost was just the tip of the iceberg.”
There were more losses in hotels, cafes, restaurants and the supply chain.
