Grieving Rev Coles tells of his loneliness
FORMER Strictly Come Dancing contestant the Reverend Richard Coles has said he wears his late partner’s cologne to stop his memory of him fading.
The ex-Communards star told of his loneliness since the Reverend David Coles died in 2019 after a long struggle with alcohol.
Richard, who lived with David at their vicarage in Finedon, Northants, told The Big Issue: “I’ve got a new dread of him fading.
“So at nights I put on a dab of his cologne and I have the dogs in bed with me – one of them snores and sounds a bit like him. So that’s a bit of a comfort.”
Telling of life with an alcoholic, he added: “So much of it is to do with fear and shame and people aren’t at their best in the grip of fear and shame.”
