Tim: Universe is meaningless without life
ASTRONAUT Tim Peake believes the universe has no meaning without conscious life in it.
And the 49-year-old said in the absence of any known living beings out there makes Earth special.
Speaking on The High Performance podcast, he added: “Without conscious life that can self reflect it makes the universe meaningless.
“When you think about it that way, it makes us incredibly special.
“We may not be the only conscious life forms in the universe, but we are, at the moment, the only ones we know of and I think that is very important.”
Peake was the first British European Space Agency astronaut to visit the International Space
Station in December 2015, spending 186 days in space.
He told how the experience gave him a “shift in perspective”.
Peake said looking down on Earth made him realise “we are just this speck of light in the universe”.
