Kane must learn from Lukaku

I HOPE Harry Kane has another look at Romelu Lukaku’s opening-game display this week and takes note of his positioning.

We all know that at Tottenham, Kane (left) likes to go walking towards the ball and play as a No.10. But, with England, there are creative players around and behind him who can get the ball into the box.

That means his job is to be a No.9 like Lukaku.

Kane needs to be getting into the box far more than he did against Croatia because my worry is that, as the Three Lions’ opponents get stronger, he’ll not be used to being in and around the goal as much as he should be – and less used to making those clinical runs to the near or far posts.

Two-goal Lukaku was exceptional at it on Saturday against Russia – and Belgium were exceptional too.
