NICE TO GET ONE OVER LEW AS MILAN WINS IT

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

SLOVAKIA produced the first shock by beating Robert Lewandowski’s Poland.

And they had a lastminute miss from the Bayern Munich goal machine – widely-regarded as Europe’s top striker – to thank for their three points, after he flashed a last-gasp header wide.

The Slovaks had been the better side even before Poland’s Grzegorz

Krychowiak was sent off for a stupid second booking just after the hour.

“Tactically, we were stronger,” said Slovak coach Stefan Tarkovic. “The way we dealt with Lewandowski, we managed to neutralise him well.”

Slovakia took a hardearned lead through the skills of Robert Mak, who nutmegged Polish defender Bartosz Bereszynski before flashing a shot that was deflected onto a post.

Unfortunately for ex-Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny, the ball cannoned back into his body and bounced into the net.

Poland levelled 30 seconds after the break when Karol Linetty swept in a Maciej Rybus cross.

Krychowiak, already on a booking, hauled down Mak. That gave the Slovaks fresh impetus and Inter defender Milan Skriniar (above) fired the winner from 16 yards after a corner.
