Queen is more of a mum to me than my mother
Fergie calls monarch ‘greatest mentor’
SARAH Ferguson has revealed the Queen has been more of a mother to her than her own mum.
The Duchess of York’s mum Susan Barrantes, who eloped to Argentina with a professional polo player, died in a road accident in 1998.
Fergie, 61, who is staying with the Queen and scandalhit ex-husband Prince Andrew at Balmoral, said: “Because I went through so much pain losing mum, I lost my way and I became deeply, insecure.
“I think to myself that honestly my mother-in-law has been more of a mother to me than my mother.
“I absolutely think there is no greater mentor because from a little girl to now, the consistency of Her Majesty has been a great honour and makes me want to cry.”
Fergie still lives with Andrew at his Royal Lodge home in Windsor despite the scandal over his relationship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
HUMBLE
The prince faces a civil case in New York accusing him of sexual abuse.
Fergie said: “I have got my lovely ex-husband Andrew – he always believes in me and always did believe in me.”
But she said the person who believed in her most was the Queen, who “never faltered”.
Fergie added: “I absolutely admire the incredible way that her majesty is so modern - I know 95 and so modern.
“And how flexible and how understanding and how forgiving and how generous and humble and kind.”
Fergie was exiled from the Royal Family after she and the prince divorced in 1996.
The late Prince Philip refused to talk to her after she was pictured having her toes sucked by her lover. She was also caught in a newspaper sting attempting to sell access to Prince Andrew for £500,000.
Fergie, who has daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie with Andrew, is promoting the launch of her Mills & Boon novel, Her Heart For A Compass.
