Mud, sweat and...fears
Stuck woman rescued in beach ordeal
THIS is the moment one woman’s seaside stroll turned into a full-on beach rescue.
The day tripper was clearly out of her depth, pretty soon ending up knee-deep in mud.
Thankfully, help was on its way and two “mud rescue technicians” managed to haul the trapped visitor out of her rather sticky situation.
The drama prompted Burnham Coastguards to warn others to stay up on the hard part of seven-mile Brean beach, in Somerset, and avoid following the example of the unnamed visitor from Bristol. After
Saturday’s rescue operation, a spokesman said: “While a lady who was visiting for the day was having a wander along the beach she found herself in knee-deep mud.
“She tried to get herself out but the suction was too great and she was firmly gripped by the sticky mix of sand, water, and mud.
“Two of our Mud Rescue Technicians were kitted up and ventured forth to help unplug the lady’s legs.”
The spokesman advised anyone in a similar predicament to “spread your weight and call for help”.
