A BRITISH holidaymaker who gave up his break to help fight wildfires in Greece has been dubbed the “angel of the ashes”.

Apollo Gerolymbos, 36, has been helping evacuate homes and battle 30ft flames as the fires cause an ecological disaster in the Peloponnese and the capital Athens.

The dad, a data analyst for London Fire Brigade, said he could not stand by as the devastation hit.
