Light-bulb moment...
What everyone seems to have missed regarding the increase in the cap for energy prices is a large portion of it isn’t strictly due to the rise in the cost of fuel.
Many energy suppliers have at least doubled the cost of the daily standing charges, which will cost me £75-plus over the next year. The standing charge is allegedly there to cover the price of delivering the fuel from the producer to your property.
But how has this doubled so quickly? My guess is it’s a way to offset the fact folk are trying to cut consumption via energy-saving methods.
Hang on, isn’t that what the Government is encouraging us to do? And save the planet! John Seymour, Nottingham
If trials of air-purifying devices in school classrooms are successful, could this be another opportunity for this government to dish out more private contracts to their chums to make them at extortionate prices while the taxpayers foot the bill?
