The Government is to review eco electricity tariffs amid fears firms are “greenwashing” by exaggerating their environmental benefits.

About nine million households are on the tariffs, with more than half of all new launches now badged as “100% renewable” or “green”.

But a YouGov poll shows 75% of customers want greater transparency over where their renewable energy comes from.

Global specialist media platform Future has bought consumer magazine publisher Dennis – whose titles include The Week, Minecraft World and MoneyWeek – for around £300million. Country Life and Metal Hammer owner Future is the UK’s biggest magazine publisher after embarking on an acquisition spree, buying comparison site GoCompare for £600m last November.
