Hayley’s heroics rewarded
HAYLEY TURNER saved the day at Lingfield yesterday when preventing fellow rider Hannah Fraser from a serious injury in the stalls, before celebrating victory in the race herself.
Apprentice Fraser’s mount Critique attempted to duck underneath the starting stalls before the start of the Download The At The Races App Handicap. Quick-thinking Turner (above), in the adjacent stall, grabbed hold of Fraser and told her to jump off.
Turner said: “She was quite lucky actually, the horse kept pulling his head down. She had hold of it and she nearly went with him. I told her to drop her reins otherwise she’d go with him.”
Critique was withdrawn and Turner was rewarded with victory on Sundayinmay.
