I’LL FOLLOW DROG LEAD, SAYS ROM
ROMELU LUKAKU speaks to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba every few days – and insists he has returned to the club to be a leader on the pitch.
The Belgium striker is back with the Blues following his club record £97.5million deal, and could face Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
He was sold by Chelsea seven years ago for £28m to Everton when he was unable to break into the first team.
Lukaku said: “I talk to Didier every few days. We have a group chat so we’re constantly communicating and I’ve been on the phone with him a bit more in the past two weeks.
“Our relationship means the world to me. I had a lot of questions to ask and he still knows a lot of people at Chelsea, so he really prepared me well with the last details.
“Now I just need to get to know the players and the coach as quickly as possible.”
Lukaku did not score in 15 appearances for Chelsea in his first spell, but has since blossomed. He said: “I feel more complete. I’m a leader, but I’ll always be encouraging my team-mates, never being down or barking at them.”
