DRAGO: JUDD TO SINK IN POOL
FORMER snooker professional Tony Drago believes potting sensation Judd Trump “has no chance” of winning next week’s US Open Pool Championship.
Maltese potter Drago, now retired, won the 2003 World Pool Masters and twice starred for Europe in the coveted Mosconi Cup.
And the 55-year-old is confident former world champion Trump won’t win the prestigious event.
“I have read a lot of nonsense about it, people saying Judd can win it,” said Drago. “I wish him well of course and it’s fantastic that he is playing. But he can’t win it.
“He is probably better than any of them at potting balls. But can he play the jump shot? Can he break?
“I hope he gets through the first few rounds – maybe his opponents will get nervous because they play the name rather than the opponent. But I don’t think he can get further.’’
Trump – who is making use of a temporary break in the snooker calendar to compete at the Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City – admitted he “has no expectations” about how he’s going to perform.
