Third jabs for another million
A WOMAN gets her booster jab as the NHS invites more than a million high-risk people to come forward for theirs.
Hundreds of thousands of text and letter invitations are to go out this week.
Almost 850,000 have arranged their third dose since the booking system opened for boosters on September 21.
NHS England’s chief executive Amanda Pritchard said: “I encourage anyone who has received an invite to come forward for their booster jab as soon as they can and protect themselves and their loved ones.”
Health and Social Care Secretary Sajid Javid said: “A booster vaccine will prolong the protection they have already developed from first and second doses.”
Public Health England modelling shows the vaccination programme has averted around 261,500 hospital admissions.
But a quarter of 18 to 29-year-olds have not taken up the offer of a jab.
A trial showed getting a Covid jab in one arm and a flu one in the other is safe.
