KIND FOODBANK HERO IS STABBED TO DEATH
Church leaflet volunteer ‘attacked by a stranger’
A FOODBANK volunteer was stabbed to death as he handed out church leaflets, his friends said.
Mohamed Issa Koroma, also known as “Chris”, was allegedly knifed by “a random stranger” in a daytime attack.
Children, paramedics and police tried to save the 24-year-old, who is thought to have suffered fatal neck wounds.
A candlelit vigil is being held tonight close to the spot where he died.
Family friend Victoria Walker said Mohamed had been giving out leaflets inviting people to church when he was killed.
She described him as an “incredible” young man whose death was “a horrific and sad tragedy”.
Victoria added: “The family are still traumatised and in complete heartbreak.
“They have been barely able to comprehend the circumstances around his death and are still trying to make sense of it all.
“As a community, we’re still in deep shock and sadness.”
She told how Mohamed volunteered in a soup kitchen each weekend.
Victoria said: “He dedicated his life to charity work, that was his mission.
“Every weekend he would be serving food or handing out food or inviting

people to church. He was a good kid, loved by everybody.”
A pal, who did not wish to be named, said Mohamed was born in Sierra Leone before his family moved to the UK.
They added: “He was dedicated to helping the poor, sick and homeless.”
To help the family with funeral expenses, a fundraising appeal has been launched on the GoFundMe website.
Today’s 7pm vigil near Castle Square tram stop in Sheffield city centre will also unite against violence.
South Yorkshire Police said they were alerted to a man with serious stab injuries on High Street at 4.30pm on September 17.
A spokesman added: “Officers attended the scene and despite their best efforts and that of ambulance staff, Mohamed was sadly pronounced dead at 5.15pm. “A postmortem concluded he died as a result of the stab injuries he suffered.”
