Mersey bid to become new movie capital
LIVERPOOL is aiming to become the Hollywood of the North after opening new film studios.
The Depot is predicted to bring a £24million boost to the regional economy, as well as creating 360 new jobs and 760 indirect roles.
The city, which provides a backdrop to upcoming film The Batman and TV series Peaky Blinders, is experiencing its busiest period for productions.
Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region, said £17million has already been invested in the 20,000sq ft studios.
He added: “Our ambitious plans are to help make our region the Hollywood of the North.”
The studios are based opposite the former Littlewoods Pools building in Kensington.
