Only 58% of patients see GP in person
JUST 58% of GP appointments in England were conducted face to face in August, latest figures show.
Despite it being the first full month since most legal restrictions were lifted, NHS Digital stats show the proportion has gone up by only 4% since January.
Before the pandemic some 80% of appointments were carried out in person.
Prof Martin Marshall, of the Royal College of GPs, insisted “huge numbers” of appointments were being made every day and patients were seen in line with infection controls.
He added: “This is against a backdrop of intense workload and workforce pressures.”
