When to see your GP about a lump

-

We all get lumps and bumps on our bodies sometimes. They come and go and mostly can be ignored. But if a lump is still there after 14 days you should see your GP and have it checked out.

Lumps and growths can be caused by a number of things and can vary in appearance. Some of them you can move around, some of them are hard while others are soft to the touch, and they can be as small as a pea or as big as a golf ball.

If you notice any of these signs, see your GP: „ your lump keeps growing

■ your lump is causing you pain and the surrounding area is red and hot

■ your lump doesn’t move and is hard

■ a lump grows back after it’s been removed

■ lump(s) in the breast or testicles

■ lump or swelling on the side of the neck, armpit or groin that doesn’t go down.
