Autumn THINGS TO DO THIS

-

It’s now more important than ever to get out and make the most of the daylight before the clocks turn back and we retreat under our duvets till spring.

I’ll be dragging The Dark Lord down to our local New Forest – not for the trees so much but she wants to visit the famous witch shops of Burley. If I suddenly start hiccuping toads, you’ll know why.

To make the most of nature’s kaleidoscope of colour, these are Forestry England top 10 autumn spots in the UK… 1

Cherry Tree Avenue, Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest in Kent – see a line of over 100 ornamental cherry trees that all turn auburn at once.

2

Symonds Yat Rock, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire – high up on the hill, look down on the autumn landscape below as the River Wye winds beneath you.

3

Wyre Forest, Worcestershire – see the vivid colour display of burnished golds, yellows and oranges at one of our last oak woodlands in Britain.

4Acer Glade, Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucestershire – a stunning collection of maples planted in the 1870s by father and son owners, Robert and George Holford.
