Potter backs Ben but not tomorrow

GRAHAM POTTER expects former Brighton defender Ben White to have a great future at Arsenal.

But the Seagulls boss hopes White’s best days as a Gunner come after tomorrow evening’s return to the Amex.

The Albion academy product (above) moved from Brighton to the Emirates Stadium in the summer for a deal that could be worth upwards of £50million. Potter knew White, 23, would come good and he was one of the stars of the weekend’s 3-1 north London derby victory over Spurs.

“When you move club, it’s not a straightforward situation,” Potter said. “As much as we’d like to it’s not so easy to hit the ground running.

“So, apart from obviously this weekend, we wish him well. And I’m sure he will do well.”
