ALEX TELLES IT ‘WOW’ IT IS
ALEX TELLES was lost for words after scoring a stunning first goal for Manchester United.
Telles opened his United account with a breathtaking 20-yard leftfoot volley (below) in Wednesday’s dramatic 2-1 win over Villarreal. The Brazil left-back, who was only playing due to Luke Shaw’s absence through illness, reacted to his sublime strike on social media and wrote: “Wow.
“Still trying to find words to express my feelings. My first goal for United, inside a packed Old Trafford, and an incredible victory on a Champions League night. This is football – working and believing until the end. Thank you all for your support.”
The goal came from a cleverly-worked Bruno Fernandes free-kick. He found Telles on the edge of the area and revealed the planning behind the successful set-piece.
“Alex was coming to me and he wanted me to do the overlap and if there was a chance, he would pass it to me in the
box,” said
Fernandes.
“I told him ‘No, just go to the edge of the box and I will ping the ball over there and you just kick it first time or, if you have time, control it.’ After that, it’s all the quality of Alex.”
