YOUR SHOUT

-

Fiona, I cannot even imagine what the parents of Sarah Everard are going through. I hope they are getting the help and counselling they must so desperately need.

I cannot understand how Wayne Couzens, Sarah’s killer – a police officer and father, of all people – could commit such a heinous crime. I really feel for his wife and children, as their lives are ruined too.

Linda, West Yorkshire

FP: There’s nothing I can add to that, Linda. It is beyond tragic for all concerned, especially, of course, Sarah’s family and friends. There really are no words...

Fiona, What is it with predatory men? I can’t believe that nothing has changed since the 1970s when my mum used to threaten me with a slap on the back of my legs if I dared to come home later than she’d said. Reading some of the current tragic stories, I really appreciate that she did that now.

Laura, Stoke

FP: Same here, Laura. My mum had a particular washing-up mop with a slim wooden handle, that she’d grab if I came home later than she’d told me to. I can still feel that sting on the back of my legs to this day!

Fiona, I despair of the current state of women’s welfare following recent murders in the news, as well as the horrific Sarah Everard case.

I really think there should be some education in the classroom, for both girls and boys.

Amber, by email

FP: I agree wholeheartedly with that, Amber, having regularly been targeted by boys on my way home from secondary school as a young teenager. Apparently sexual abuse is currently rife in schools across the country, both state and private. Why? And why is it not being stopped?
