WILDER’S A SORE LOSER...AN IDIOT

Fury blasts beaten American over lack of respect

-

FROM CHRIS McKENNA in Las Vegas TYSON FURY labelled Deontay Wilder a sore loser and an idiot after emerging victorious from their showdown.

The British heavyweight retained the WBC heavyweight title with an 11th-round knockout in an epic fight.

Fury went over to Wilder after the fight to speak to him but the American - who made unfounded allegations about the Gypsy King ‘s gloves when he lost their second bout – dismissed him.

The 33-year-old Brit said: “An idiot. He’s got no love for me Deontay Wilder, because I’ve beat him three times.

“I’m a sportsman, I went over to him to show some love and respect and he didn’t want to give it back. That’s his problem.

“All the allegations they made towards me, throughout the buildup, but we fought like two warriors in there and I went over to shake his hand and he was like, ‘No, I don’t respect you’. How can you say I’ve cheated when you know in your heart and your full team knows you got beat fair and square?

He’s a sore loser.

“He’s not the first one and he won’t be the last.”

Fury sent Wilder head first to the canvas in a brutal finish. The American was down in the third and 10th round as well, while Fury hit the deck twice in the fourth.

It was an absorbing battle and Fury reckons Wilder, at 35, may have had his career ended. He said:

“I’ve not seen the knockout but I felt it. I felt like he was getting tired and fatigued and I hit him solid with a big right hook to the temple. Shots like that end careers. I hope he is OK. He took a lot of punishment. We will see what he can do in the future. Not bad for a feather duster, non-puncher – clean knockouts with one punch.”

Wilder was taken to hospital as a precaution for routine tests but his co-manager Shelly Finkel confirmed he was “fine” and was released soon after.

“I did my best but it wasn’t good enough tonight,” said Wilder. “I’m not sure what happened.

“I know in training he did certain things and I also knew that he didn’t come in at 277lb to be a ballet dancer.

“He came to lean on me, try to rough me up and he succeeded.”
