New year’s resolutions – keep doing the things that bring you joy

-

Well, 2022 is here and you’re probably thinking about what resolutions you should make for the new year... and dreading it.

You’ve probably been through the list of the usual suspects: losing weight, giving up smoking, exercise more, read more books, enrol on a course. But somehow the more you think about them the less you feel like committing.

Have you thought about approaching this in a different way? The way that wouldn’t feel like a chore but something that you thrive on?

I’m sure in the past year or so your life, like everyone else’s, has turned upside down due to the effects of the pandemic.

You will have made several changes to keep yourself and your family safe, some of which actually improved your life.

How about taking an inventory and making a list of all the good things you started doing?

Just write down on a piece of paper all the changes that made your life better.

Now here comes the twist! Make a promise that you’ll keep doing those things. Yes, pledge that you’ll continue to make an effort to keep the positive changes in your life.

If you want to up your game and give yourself an extra challenge you can go a step further and find ways to improve on those things to make them even more effective.

Get your family involved because doing things together will spur you all on. Check regularly on everyone’s progress to make sure you’re all on track and to keep each other accountable.

Remember a good New Year’s resolution should be achievable and should bring you joy. Choose wisely!
