Stars’ £10k aid for baby tragedy fund
Hollywood pair’s football gesture
THE Hollywood star owners of Wrexham FC have donated £10,000 to a charity following the death of a player’s baby.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney made the generous gesture after midfielder Jordan Davies and partner Kelsey Edwards lost their son Arthur.
The couple announced last month that he had been “born sleeping” .
They set up a fundraising web page for Sands, the Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Society, which supports families affected by the death of a baby.
Hours after it appeared, Ryan, 45, and wife Blake Lively, 34, together with Rob, 44, and his wife Kaitlin Olson, 46, pledged £10,000.
A target of £1,500 had been set but last night the total topped £13,000.
Kelsey wrote on the page: “Our baby boy, Arthur Andrew Davies, was born sleeping on the 14th December 2021.
“The support we received during this time was amazing.”
She said Sands funded a suite at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for grieving families, adding: “We were given the time we needed with our boy and were supported throughout. They also provided us with a memory box with things to cherish for ever.
“We are forever grateful for Sands and all the staff at Wrexham Maelor. Sweet dreams, my sweet boy.”
Rob, star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Deadpool actor Ryan took over the Welsh club in November 2020.
It announced on New
Year’s Day that Jordan, 23, had signed a new three
and-a-half-year contract with the National League outfit, his boyhood club.
He said: “It means a lot for me, especially my family. We’ve been through a little bit of a rough time but it’s finally some good news and hopefully a light at the end of the tunnel.”
Hopefully there’s a light at the end of the tunnel
