GOVE ‘DIDN’T HAVE AFFAIR’ SAYS HIS EX
Political Correspondent
MICHAEL Gove’s ex-wife has denied he had a mistress after speculation about their marriage split.
Opening up on her divorce, columnist Sarah Vine said the only mistress the Levelling Up Secretary had was “politics”.
The ex-couple, who have two children, split last July after almost 20 years of marriage.
Ms Vine told Tatler magazine: “The mistress wins in the end. It’s all about making sure she’s happy. “Despite all the rumours, his only mistress was politics. That’s what he is in love with. He is genuinely in love with politics.”
Ms Vine admitted she never wanted Mr Gove to become PM despite supporting his career.
She revealed: “My ulterior motive throughout my entire life was to stop my husband becoming Prime Minister because I can’t think of anything worse.”
