MoD wastes £13bn in 67 cash bungles
LABOUR has blasted the Government for wasting £13billion of taxpayers’ cash in 67 financial gaffes by the MoD since 2010.
As much as £4bn was squandered since Defence Secretary Ben Wallace took office in July 2019.
John Healey, the Shadow Defence Secretary, said the “totally unacceptable” waste could have avoided cuts to the armed forces.
He added: “Ministers are failing British troops and British taxpayers”.
The Labour audit found £4.8bn in cancelled deals, £5.6bn on overspent projects and £2.6bn of written-off investment.
The MoD said No10 has provided an extra £24bn plus equipment and defence strategies to modernise our military.
