Jubilee coin shows Queen on horseback
A COIN that depicts the Queen on horseback has been unveiled by The Royal Mint to mark her Platinum Jubilee.
The coin, designed by artist John Bergdahl to celebrate her 70 years as queen, is the first collectable 50 pence piece to celebrate a royal event.
The design will be on the heads side of the 50p and on a traditional £5 crown.
The Royal Mint said the design is reminiscent of the ones for the Coronation in 1953 and has been approved by the Queen.
Clare Maclennan, a divisional director at The Royal Mint, said: “Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee coins are enduring pieces of art that will be collected, cherished and passed down for generations.”
