Asda rapped after worker ‘pushed out’
A SHOP worker who was made to feel she was being “pushed out” by her manager has won a claim against Asda for age and disability discrimination.
Joan Hutchinson, 75, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2020, resigned in September 2021.
An employment tribunal heard her boss at the Asda in Deeside, North Wales, where she worked for 20 years, asked her more than once if she wished to retire.
The panel ruled it was a “discriminatory” question.
And it found another colleague had “violated her dignity” by rummaging through Mrs Hutchinson’s bag when she could not find her keys and bus pass.
Mrs Hutchinson, who also won her claim for constructive dismissal, may be in line for a payout.
