ELECTRIC MERCEDES PULLS A FAST ONE

Mercedes-AMG has launched its first all-electric high-performance saloon.

It’s based on the newly launched EQS and is badged as the EQS 53 4MATIC+.

Two specs are being offered – Night Edition and Touring, both powered by a 107.8kWh battery and twin electric motors giving a whopping 658bhp with 0-62mph coming up in 3.8sec. More useful is its 358-mile range. The Night Edition also has the option of an AMG Performance Package that cranks the power up to 761bhp, while the Touring version has the option of a Luxury Lounge package offering neck and shoulder heating among other things.

Prices start at an eye-watering £154,995 with cars arriving in April.
