HIGH OF THE TIGERS AS THEY STUN KIWIS
CAPTAIN Mominul Haque reckons his Bangladesh team-mates will go down in history as they continue to bask in a shock first Test win against New Zealand.
The eight-wicket upset at Mount Maunganui (bottom) was Bangladesh’s first Test victory since 2018. And the triumph over the world Test champions – their first home loss in almost five years – must rank as one of the biggest upsets ever. Bangladesh were only ranked ahead of Zimbabwe and Monimul (celebrating top with Mushifiqur Rahim) said: “Everyone supported each other and I’ve said playing well collectively is the key. We need to win these Tests for our legacy. This win will go down in cricket history for our country.” Seamer Ebadot Hossain (above), who used to play volleyball, took a best of 6-46 as the Tigers skittled the Kiwis for 169 on day five. They lost two wickets but knocked off the 40 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
