£50M SCRAP FOR LAMPTEY

TOTTENHAM are ready to challenge bitter rivals Arsenal in the £50million battle for Tariq Lamptey.

Brighton’s England Under-21 wing-back (below) has shone since returning from the hamstring injury which ruled him out of the second half of last season.

The Gunners have been linked for some time with ex-Chelsea academy product Lamptey, who joined Albion for a bargain £3m in January 2020,.

But Antonio Conte is also keen on the 21-year-old as Spurs are set to lose Matt Doherty, with ex-club Wolves keen on taking him back this month.

Doherty, who joined in a £15m deal in August 2020, has flopped in north London and not started a Premier League game this season.

Brighton yesterday signed Poland midfielder Kacper Kozlowski from Pogon Szczecin in a deal worth around £8m.

The 18-year-old is set to be sent on loan to Belgian sister club Royal Union-Saint Gillioise for the rest of the season.
