CLIMATE FACT: Matt Suler (USA) accidentally achieved the record of surviving the furthest distance carried by a tornado on 12 March 2006, after his mobile home was engulfed by a tornado, knocking him unconscious in the process. He awoke in a field 398 m (1,307 ft) away with only minor injuries. (Source: Met office)
