MARCELO’S NOT UP FOR THE CUP

- BY

DAVID ANDERSON MARCELO BIELSA says Leeds do not have any added motivation to beat West Ham tomorrow despite their awful FA Cup record.

Bielsa (below) has lost all three of his FA Cup ties at Leeds, including last season’s humbling by Crawley, while the Whites have also been embarrassed by Newport and Sutton United in recent years.

This season is also the 50th anniversary of Leeds’ only FA Cup success, yet Bielsa insists they do not have any extra incentive to win.

“We always try to win every game we play,” said the

Leeds boss.

“There’s never a need for added motivation.

“Every time the group play, the group’s desire is the maximum to win. Every competition is a possibility for success. We take it in that way. Every game we focus with the intention to win it. The hope that the fans and the public have is the same as we have.

“We are going to try to show a character against West Ham that will allow us to beat them.”

Patrick Bamford is back from his hamstring injury and set to make his first start for Leeds since

September 17. But Bamford’s welcome return is outweighed by injuries to Tyler Roberts and teen sensation Joe Gelhardt, who have joined Rodrigo on the sidelines.

David Moyes is annoyed the Premier League have scheduled a home game with Norwich three days after the Cup tie, and the Hammers boss (top) said: “Wednesday night’s game has changed the whole dynamic of this tie, which is pretty disappointing. “We have not had real problems with Covid. I understand other clubs have and that games need to be played but we have just come out of a busy schedule.

“In the first free week we have been pushed into a game. I don’t feel we should have been put in that situation.”
