AJ PAYOFF PLAN FOR FURY SUPERFIGHT

-

right to a rematch with Usyk and instead face the winner of Fury’s (above) superfight with his Ukrainian conqueror.

Joshua is due to discuss the proposal today in a meeting with his promoter Eddie Hearn.

He shot down the idea when Hearn first proposed it because he is focused on winning back his WBA Super, IBF and WBA crowns from Usyk, who beat him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.

But in addition to pocketing £15m, stepping aside would give Joshua time to bed in his new training team, which he is yet to announce.

Matchroom chief Hearn told Sky Sports: “I’m meeting with AJ and 258 Management to go through plans for his next fight. We have a number of proposals and options to discuss.

“The goal remains the same of course – to recapture the world heavyweight crown.”

Joshua, 32, rejected claims he had already agreed to step aside, saying he would decide his next move.

“I ain’t signed no contract, I ain’t seen no contract,” said the two-time world champ.

“I’m the man in control of my destiny, I’m the man who handles my business.

“I’m a smart individual and I make calculated decisions every step of the way.” Several Middle Eastern countries have already signalled they would pay a huge fee to host the potential £200m showdown between Fury and Usyk (below).

Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk claims the fight has been under discussion for some weeks. “We are in talks regarding the Fury fight since November,” he said. “We have still have not reached the final point in negotiations.”

Dillian Whyte is due to face Fury next as the WBC’s mandatory challenger and he is being offered £5m to step aside.

Whyte is unhappy with the WBC ordering an 80-20 purse split in favour of the Gypsy King and the two camps have until tomorrow to agree terms.
