Tweet about Captain Tom was a crime
A MAN who tweeted that Captain Tom should “burn” has been found guilty of sending a “grossly offensive” message.
Joseph Kelly, 36, wrote: “The only good Brit soldier is a deed [dead] one, burn auld fella buuuuurn” – the day after the hero’s death.
Captain Sir Tom Moore died with Covid aged 100 on February 2 last year.
He had raised £32million for the NHS by being sponsored to walk 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden.
Former neighbour Luzier Jeffery said Kelly told her he had “done a lot of stupid things in my time but that’s one of the worst”.
Kelly, of Glasgow, was convicted under the Communications Act after a trial at Lanark sheriff court. He is due be sentenced next month.
