RUKI SAYID BRITANNIA Hotels have been voted the worst places to stay, with dirty rooms, missing toiletries and rundown facilities.
The brand, made famous by a documentary at Liverpool’s Adelphi in 1997, came bottom of a list of spots for the ninth time in a row.
One customer quizzed in the survey by Which? said: “It was terrible. The room was dirty. The carpet had stains everywhere.”
The chain scored 49 out of
100 in the hotels ratings.
Consumer watchdog
Which? gave this verdict on Britannia: “Stay elsewhere. Anywhere else.”
With rooms costing around £99 a night it was 50% dearer than winner, Premier Inn. Crowne Plaza and Sofitel also topped the list.
The damning vote marks a steep decline for the Adelphi, which once had an array of famous guests, including Frank Sinatra in 1953 and Winston Churchill in the 40s.
Britannia Hotels declined to comment.
