-

The company behind Webuyanycar has snapped up a near 20% stake in listed British motor dealership chain Lookers.

Constellation Automotive – which also owns online car trader Cinch and motoring auction firm BCA – has bought 78 million of Lookers’ shares over recent days.

Most were purchased at a price of 102p from Tony Bramall, Lookers’ biggest shareholder who stepped down as a non-executive director in December 2020.

Online estate agent Purplebricks swung to a near £13million loss in its last six months, from a £4.3m profit, as the business lost market share to rivals.
