Villa put Biss bid on hold
STEVEN GERRARD’S transfer window spree is over with Aston Villa prepared to return for Yves Bissouma this summer.
Villa boss Gerrard has been one of the busiest Premier League managers this month.
He has signed Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne, Calum Chambers, Robin Olsen and rookie Kerr Smith.
But he was frustrated trying to land a new defensive midfielder to replace his crocked star Marvelous Nakamba.
Villa, despite having billionaire owners, refused to meet Brighton’s £50million price tag for Bissouma, 25, (above) who has just 18 months left on his contract.
It saw them turn their attentions to Juventus holding midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, but they failed to agree a fee before Spurs beat them late on. Now Gerrard has halted his pursuit of a new player for that position until the summer.
