Clarets plot safety Wout
WOUT WEGHORST has vowed to fire Burnley to Premier League safety after completing his £12million switch from Wolfsburg.
The 6ft 6ins Holland striker has moved to Turf Moor as Chris Wood’s replacement and signed a three-and-a-half year deal.
Weghorst, 29, scored 58 goals in 111 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg, and aims to keep hitting the net for the Clarets.
“The main thing for a striker is to score goals and it’s something I’m good at,” said Weghorst, who trained with his new team-mates for the first time yesterday.
“I have achieved that throughout my entire career. I will do everything I can to deliver and score goals for Burnley.”
Burnley will pay German club Wolfsburg a £1.7m bonus if they stay up this season.
And boss Sean Dyche said: “We feel Wout can add to all that we do at Burnley Football Club.”
