BALE’S GOING FORE IT WITH HIS NEW ROLE
GOLF-MAD Gareth Bale has taken up a role with the sport’s governing body – but his priority remains inspiring Wales to the World Cup.
The Real Madrid ace was yesterday confirmed as global ambassador for the R&A to help grow golf.
Bale joins pop star Niall Horan and his Modest! Golf management in backing a drive to encourage more people into the sport. But pals of the 32-year-old (above) insist his main aim remains getting the Dragons to Qatar 2022 via the play-offs.
He returned to the bench for Real as an unused sub two games ago and is working hard on his fitness in Spain after a calf injury sustained in November on his 100th cap.
Bale, a two-handicapper, said, “Golf is an amazing sport and it has always been an ambition of mine to encourage more people to take it up.”
