MISSING TWO-YEAR-OLD ‘FOUND DEAD IN BUCKET’
A GIRL of two reported missing was found dead in a bucket in her family’s garden, it was claimed yesterday.
Police are treating the death as unexplained, but neighbours claimed officers said the toddler had drowned. The child, who has not been named, was found at a property in Dagenham, East London, on Saturday afternoon.
Her devastated family were too upset to speak yesterday.
Neighbour Shorifa Begum, 44, said: “On Saturday at 4pm I saw emergency vehicles. I saw the baby’s mother and seven or eight people. She said her girl was missing, they were searching everywhere, even her garden.
“An emergency doctor came and they were giving her CPR.
“On Sunday they told me they found her in a large bucket. A police dog found it.” Police said no arrests have been made and a postmortem will take place.
Scotland Yard said: “The girl was found unresponsive in the garden. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.”
