GCSEs major revamp plea
THE GCSE exams system should be “fundamentally” changed, a report argues.
It says testing should not be based around an “arbitrary” fixed age of 16.
The Independent Assessment Commission adds pupils should have chances to “demonstrate achievements when ready”, from age 14 to 19.
The review took place amid huge assessment changes during lockdown when exams were axed.
It added the system had deep-rooted “inequalities”.
