Killer: ‘I used CPR in bid to revive wife’
A CONVICTED murderer accused of killing his wife claimed he gave her CPR after finding her collapsed.
Ian Stewart, 61, was found guilty of murdering author Helen Bailey in 2017. He is now on trial charged with the murder of his wife Diane Stewart seven years earlier.
Diane, 47, of Bassingbourn, Cambs, was believed to have suffered an epileptic fit in her garden. But prosecutors said medical evidence from her brain, which was donated to science, proves she was murdered.
Stewart, who is serving life, denies the charge.
He told Huntingdon crown court: “I started to panic. I was trying to save her life. I was trying to get her to breathe again.”
The trial continues.
