RAC calls for fairer electric car deal
THE RAC is backing a campaign calling for a fair tax deal for electric car owners.
It wants an end to drivers who don’t have a charging point at home paying 20% VAT to power up elsewhere, compared to the domestic rate of 5%.
The FairCharge campaign – led by car expert Quentin Willson – is demanding the removal of “an unnecessary barrier to switching” to greener motoring.
Sarah Winward-Kotecha, from the RAC, said: “Our decision to support FairCharge is all about making sure charging provision is both fit for purpose and fair.”
