Amess’s girl joins politics push for kids
THE daughter of stabbed MP Sir David Amess meets the PM today as she takes up her dad’s crusade with the Children’s Parliament.
Actress Katie Amess, 36, will become patron of the drive to get primary school pupils involved in politics.
She said: “From the absolute tragedy of my father’s death, we must ensure democracy and freedom of speech prevail.”
Sir David, 69, had been due to co-host the online Children’s Parliament on October 29 – two weeks after his death. Ali Harbi Ali, 25, denies murdering Sir David during a constituency meeting in Essex.
A by-election for his Southend West seat takes place tomorrow. Labour, the Lib Dems and Greens are not running.
