HOUSE PRICES SOARING

House prices have had their strongest start to the year since 2005, figures from the Nationwide Building Society reveal.

It said prices jumped 11.2% year-on-year last month, from 10.4% in December.

But the Nationwide reckons the housing market will cool this year as people’s household budgets are squeezed by rising interest rates and the wider surge in living costs.
