NORMAN INVASION OF HERTS
GREG NORMAN has warned the Asian Tour’s plans to stage its first tournament in England this summer are “just the beginning” as golf’s global power struggle took a dramatic new turn yesterday.
The Centurion Club in Hertfordshire will host the £1.5million event from June 9-12 as the Saudi-backed Tour plants its tanks on the manicured lawns of the European Tour as part of a 10-event international series.
“We are setting the Asian Tour up as a powerful new force on the world golf stage,” said Norman (above).
“The International Series is not going to be specifically for the Asian region, and that’s critically important for everybody to understand.
“This is just the beginning, the infancy of this journey, it’s going to be an incredible one.”
