RAGE AFTER RAITH SIGN UP A RAPIST

-

RAITH ROVERS are in turmoil after a huge backlash over the controversial signing of David Goodwillie.

He was ruled to be a rapist in a civil court case in 2017, having never faced a criminal trial north of the border.

But his deadline-day switch to the Championship side sparked fury, with staff members resigning and fans ripping up their season tickets.

Author Val McDermid (above) has withdrawn her shirt sponsorship and lifelong support, saying the idea of the three-times-capped shamed Scotland striker playing with her name on his shirt made her “feel physically sick”.

A civil case ruled five years ago that ex-Crystal Palace frontman Goodwillie, 32, and former Dundee United teammate David Robertson raped Denise Clair after a drunken night out in West Lothian in 2011.

He was not in Raith’s squad who played Queen of the South last night.
