Highlights of my 20 years
LUCY has many fond memories of the 20 years she has spent in Emmerdale. Here are some of her highlights off-screen and on…
The 2012 Live episode
It was heart-racingly scary, but absolutely thrilling. We rehearsed for two weeks and then on the night we heard ‘we’re going live in 5, 4,…..’ and I went: ‘oh my God!’ It’s a similar anticipation to doing a bungee jump – will the rope still hold? There’s that adrenaline kick.
The Woolpack Siege 2013
I was held hostage in the flooded pub. We went to Pinewood Studios and had diving lessons and filmed on the underwater sets that they used for the James Bond films.
The birth of her real-life children 2005 and 2017
My daughter Lola was a surprise, but there was never any feeling of: ‘Oh God, I’m not ready.’ I knew I wanted another, but it didn’t happen. If somebody says I can’t do something then I’m determined to prove them wrong, so I went down the IVF route and had Missy and Betsy.
The 2018 death of Chas’s baby daughter Grace
I’d just given birth to my twin girls. The responsibility of playing this knowing people are going through it in real life was heart-wrenching. It’s the most honest performance I’ve ever given – the tears were real.
